I’m turning into the Traveling Blogger this year and I can’t wait. I have been and will be doing all kinds of traveling this year for Shawn Ann’s World, whether it be for be blogging conferences or blogging events.
This was my view on the way to my first ever Blogging Conference, Mitten Moms, what a sight! It was roughly a four-hour or so drive to the northern part of lower Michigan. The timing was perfect for the conference because the fall colors were in full bloom and the sites were just breath-taking! I still can’t decide what the best part of the conference was; meeting other bloggers, learning, or the sight-seeing we did during the conference. Either way, it was fun and something to remember!
Conferences are a big thing for bloggers, we get to connect with other bloggers, connect with brands, learn, and visit new places. Yes, Blogging Conferences are not just about having fun, you do have some learning in there. The best part of the learning is you are learning from those just like you and they are willing to teach you what they know!
This year my traveling to conferences and blogging events has expanded. This time last year I hadn’t even attended a blogging event. This year, I’ve not only attended one event but two of them and there are many more to come. In fact, I am now the owner of the website and very first conference I attended! That’s right, I purchased Mitten Moms from the original blogger and I am now running it and there is a blogger conference set up for this August for Michigan Bloggers!
Even though I’ve only attended one conference so far in my 8 years of blogging, I really can’t wait to attend more. It had been hard in the past because I was a working mom blogger and couldn’t take off the time from work, however, now that I’m working from home it’s a lot easier. Problem is, conferences can be very expensive. So far I have secured tickets for three conferences I plan to attend this year, one of which is my conference. I would love to work with brands that would like to help me with the additional costs listed for each the conferences I am already scheduled to attend and additional conferences that may come into my schedule. Conference Sponsorships are beneficial to both parties involved.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about this blogging conference and because I am a review blogger I thought it was probably the perfect conference for me to attend. I was hesitant on getting a ticket for this conference because it is way down in Georgia, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity of attending.
Transportation ~ I will be driving down to Georgia with another Michigan Blogger, which is about a 13 hour drive. We’ll be taking my SUV, unless someone would like to provide a loaner vehicle, and as you know gas prices seem to always be going up instead of down so we could definitely use some help with the cost of gas. It’s going to take roughly 4 tanks of gas each way, so we are looking at about $400!
Hotel Costs ~ We will be staying at the Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens, where the conference is being held. Rooms are $139 a night and we’ll be there for 3 nights so after fees and taxes we are looking at $522!
I’ve wanted to attend this conference for the last few years, however it was in New York last year and there was just no way of making that trip due to funding. This year, I purchased my ticket within about 24 hours of them becoming available because it was going to be in Chicago and I have wanted to make it there for some time now. I had even planned on it being a family trip and spending some of the time at the conference and some of the time with family at the museum and exploring the area.
I’ve been a little intimated by this conference because it is a huge conference, but thankfully my blogging neighbor will be going too, so just like Reviewer’s retreat, we are driving and rooming together
Transportation ~ Since BlogHer is in Chicago this year, the cost for driving isn’t going to be too bad. My blogging neighbor has secured a vehicle for the trip, so we’ll just need some help with gas, about $150.
Hotel Costs ~ This one is the doosie! This year BlogHer will be held at Sheraton Chicago and McCormick Place, we’ll be arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Sunday, so as you can imagine this is going to be a big one. We’re looking at around $800 and that wouldn’t include taxes and parking each night.
Mitten Moms ~ August 9th-11th
So here it is, the best conference of all. OK, maybe not the best conference, but I’m super excited for the first conference I will be hosting, putting together, and doing everything for and I’m hoping it will be a huge success!
We are currently seeking sponsorships as well as connecting brands with Michigan Bloggers. If you would like to connect with Mitten Moms, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to working with all brands.
Bloggy Boot Camp Minneapolis ~ October 12th
I would also love to be able to attend this one day conference. As of the date of this post I have not yet secured my ticket.
Ticket Cost ~ The cost of the ticket is $130 (or $99 if purchased before July 31st),
Transportation ~ This would be another 13 hour trip, just like Reviewers Retreat. I would be driving my own SUV for this conference and it would be roughly 4 tanks of gas each way. So we are looking at roughly $400.
Hotel Cost ~ I would probably be staying 1-2 nights at $99 a night plus tax.
What do Sponsors get?
