Thaddeus and I have made it into a family and yearly tradition to do a Run or Dye race. Last year was our first Run or Dye 5K and this past weekend we just completed our second one!
The event seems to be so organized and so much fun! It’s a great way to spend some time with your family and do something healthy together. Yeah, it may be a “race” you are competing in, but you are not required to run it. In fact, it seems to be more fun when you aren’t running it because you get to not only enjoy the time with the person you are there with but you also get to have extra fun going through each color station getting covered in colors!
The fun begins well before the race begins, you are able to connect with others as well as purchase some great souvenirs and gear. Before the race, Thaddeus was pretty much already covered in multiple colors, either from me tossing them on to him, him tossing them on to him, or others in the crowd tossing the colors.
I had hoped to be able to jog the entire 5K, however, I just wasn’t in that good of shape. Even after spending the last two months going to the gym and working out anywhere from three to six days a week. Next year I am sure to be able to jog it although I think Thaddeus would rather us run it!
The only thing that lacked at the Run or Dye this year was the port-a-johns being placed throughout the race for pit-stops. After standing at the start line for about 45 minutes before the race, Thaddeus needed to make a run and they didn’t have any throughout the race this year for stopping at, thankfully the racetrack building was open and we were allowed access because he wouldn’t have made it all the way through the 5K without that stop.
