One of the greatest things about living on the Big Island of Hawai’i is that there is a lot of places to go hiking and camping. Although we haven’t done any camping yet or any major hiking, we do plan on doing both.  Before heading out, we want to make sure we have the proper hiking and camping gear with us.

Make sure you have the proper hiking and camping gear before you head out. Here are 3 hiking and camping must-haves that should be packed for your trip.

3 Important Hiking and Camping Must-Haves

Appropriate wear

Make sure you have the proper hiking and camping gear before you head out. Here are 3 hiking and camping must-haves that should be packed for your trip.Clothing and the proper equipment is crucial. You want to make sure you have hiking boots, jacket, gloves, and even heat holder socks. We all know that even in the warmer months, the temperature can dip after sunset or depending on the elevation you are at, and nothing ruins a good time than chilly toes! Heat Holders socks are the perfect hiking and camping gear for keeping warm when you are hiking up at high elevations or during the cold nights camping out in the forests. You may start your trip when it is beautiful and warm out, but it may not stay that nice throughout your journey.

The children’s Heat Holders socks come in sizes 10-2 ½ and 3-6 ½ and feature a 2.34 TOG rating. They use a long-looped pile cushioning, which prevents boots and outdoor shoes rubbing and creating sores on delicate feet. The brushed insides of the socks are wonderfully soft against the skin, offering unbeatable comfort, and since these socks are available in 16 fabulous colors, there’s a pair to match even the fussiest of small people! Perfect for keeping your children’s feet warm during any hiking and camping trip.

Heat Holders doesn’t just offer socks; they also offer blankets, thermal underwear, neck warmers, and more.

First Aid Kit

Make sure you have the proper camping and hiking gear before you head out. Here are 3 essential hiking and camping gear that is needed. It doesn’t matter how safe you are when you are out hiking & camping. You should always have a first aid kit with you. It doesn’t have to be a full first aid kit as long as you have the basics that you may need should you encounter an accident. Make sure that you have band-aids, gauze, medical tape, antibiotic ointment, a mylar blanket, and clean water.

Food and Water

Yes, this can technically be broken into two separate items. However, we all know they are both thought of at the same time. When you are heading out for an extended period, you want to make sure that you have both food and water.  If you are just going out hiking for the day, you may not need to worry about bringing along too much food, but make sure that you have some good protein bars and energy gels along with your regular meals you’ll be eating during your hike.  You also want to make sure that you have plenty of drinking water. Not all places have somewhere to get a fresh drink of water, and you don’t want to be stranded for a period with nothing to drink.

Now that you have a list of the three essential hiking & camping gear must-haves before heading out it is time to figure out where you are going. Are you more of a camper or hiker? Where is your favorite place to go?
