Feeding Penny Pig is a children’s story about a lonely, hungry, little piggy bank that finds a new home with a loving little girl as a “special” birthday present. The story introduces children to the concept of earning and saving money, which in this day and age is a very important concept to learn at an early age.
I read Feeding Penny Pig to my little boy right before bed the other night, and took the time to explain to him exactly what was going on with the story. At the end we talked a little bit about earning money by helping out around the house and how that he could earn a little bit here and a little bit there, and would be able to save up to buy things he wanted. As soon as we were done he ran into the office and asked mumma (Shawn Ann) if there was anything that he could do to earn some pennies. 😉
In fact, as I sit here writing this review, he is asking me if he can help so that he can earn some pennies for his own little piggy bank that he has. :teehee
I like reading to my son, it gives us some time alone and allows me to teach him things that usually don’t pop up on an every day basis. This was a great book too as I had never thought about talking to him about the importance of money and being responsible with it.
And now I have to read my review to him so he can “proof” it for me and earn a few pennies for his work. :yeahbaby
