Xavier has had some problems with his breathing the last couple of days. Not sure exactly why, but we’ve needed to increase the flow of oxygen he receives. On Tuesday, we brought him into the NICU to have his nose suctioned really well and to get a couple of labs done on him and he seemed to be doing better and we were hoping to be able to decrease the oxygen. They even ordered us a suction machine so that we could suction his nose whenever needed since the ball suction wasn’t enough (they got some really good size buggers out of him). Unfortunately, yesterday we had to increase his oxygen again (never had the chance to decrease it) and he started retracting really bad, so we had to bring him to the hospital last night. He’s doing much better, but he had to stay the night in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for the night and hopefully will get to come back home today. We just have to wait and see.
We aren’t in too much of a hurry to get him home this time, we want to make sure that he is doing really good before he comes back home to us.
We have a little bit of a concern about the oxygen making machine we received and if it was putting out enough pure oxygen since we were having these problems and once he was put on the wall oxygen at the hospital last night he started stating much better. We’ll see!
