A surprise trip to the Windy City. There was no rhyme or reason for the journey; we just decided one late Thursday afternoon that we’d head to the Windy City Friday afternoon.
OK, so that isn’t entirely accurate. I received an invite to attend this year’s Chicago Toy & Game Fair and when I mentioned it to Brandon he asked if I was going to go. I told him that I didn’t know yet. He mentioned how we had a good time in the Windy City last year (we went to the event last year as well as touring the city that weekend) and said, “Let’s go this weekend!”. It just happens that I had a review car during this time, so I had to check with them to be sure it would be OK. After getting the go-ahead, we booked our trip.
Booking the trip consisted of booking the hotel, which took all of like a minute because we knew where we were going to stay. We left for the Windy City around 3:15 on Friday.
We didn’t have anything planned for the visit, other than going to the Field Museum for the boys to see Dinosaurs again. This year was much nicer because Xavier was able to enjoy the visit. It was cold, but it was fun!

We decided to take a walk through Chicago. We packed up the boys and walk from the Hyatt Regency Hotel at McCormick place to Chicago Waffle for breakfast and then from there we headed to “The Bean”. It was a super cold walk, and we got a little wet, but the boys enjoyed the outcome.
Our next stop was to the Field Museum. Since it was so cold, we decided to call upon Uber to drive us there.
After this, we went back to the hotel for a short break and then headed back out and took a trip to Navy Pier where we did a little tourist shopping and got the boys some stuffed animals from Build-a-Bear. Then back to the hotel where we stayed for the rest of the night and headed on back home Sunday morning.
